About the Author
Ramachandra Guha was born in the year 1958 in Dehra Dun. He is well-known as an author and a historian from India. He has written mostly on environment, sports and politics. He got his Master’s degree from the Delhi School of Economics and is known for researching extensively into the Chipko Movement. Apart from this book, he has authored Wickets in The East, Makers of Modern India, Spin And Other Turns, The States of Indian Cricket and Environmentalism: A Global History. He has been awarded the Padma Bhushan and the Sahitya Akademi Awards.
